Oval Ayers

Gentle Rivers is the phrase coined by my grandfather, Oval Ayers, to bring calm to tumultuous circumstances.  My grandfather was a dry-land farmer in Oklahoma for more than sixty years.  He and his wife worked the fields from sunup to sundown to provide for their five children.  They scratched out their wheat, cotton and corn crops and raised cattle, sheep and hogs.

This life brought its fair share of hardships but he never complained about hard work; instead, he would say the simple phrase Gentle Rivers, and press on.  When scorching heat brought drought and failing crops, my grandfather might mop his brow, nod his head and utter Gentle Rivers.  After struggling all night to help a cow with a difficult birth and still losing the calf, my grandfather might pat the mother with his kind hand and whisper Gentle Rivers.

When a cousin drove the tractor into a ditch during summer plowing, breaking the axle, his jaw clenched and face turned red; putting his hands on his hips he muttered Gentle Rivers.

Gentle Rivers was his way of taking overwhelming circumstances and making workable solutions.

Gentle Rivers Consulting LLC is founded in the same spirit that my grandfather used to face difficult problems and find effective answers.  Gentle Rivers Consulting LLC focuses on finding concrete solutions to complex issues.
